Lane Brown Taylor is a fine art photographer, whose work is considered noteworthy for its spontaneous celebratory twist. She works in and around Chattanooga, and her broad range of work includes teaching photography, shooting fine portraiture, as well as weddings and commercial freelance. Lane lives on a farm in Rising Fawn, Georgia, with her husband and daughter, and their extended family of animals Lane is originally from Chattanooga, where she was raised on Lookout Mountain. Her interest in photography began in high school, when she was a student at The Webb School of Knoxville. She attended the University of Georgia, where she received a B.F.A. in photography, graduating with a finishing exhibit of her work in Athens, Ga., in 1991. After some time in Colorado, Lane returned to Chattanooga to photograph professionally. Lane specializes with a fine art approach to the various demands of photographic structure. In addition to her portrait, wedding and commercial photography, Lane shares her passion for her work through teaching projects. She taught photography at Covenant College on Lookout Mountain for eight years and currently teaches photography courses at the McCallie School in Chattanooga. She also helped to develop an A.E.C. sponsored literacy-through-photography program, Future Focus, in regional elementary schools. Future Focus utilizes cameras, dark room techniques, and creative writing to build self-esteem, confidence, and motivation in young people from all walks of life. Lane's commercial work includes nationally acclaimed Graphic designers, advertising agencies, as well as the recording industry. Her wedding photography is nationally recognized, and her black and white portraiture has proven to be quite popular with regional commissions. Lane is a recognized photographer, exhibiting regularly with the Association for the Visual Arts, Artstravaganza, the Hunter Museum of American Art and Spectrum, as well as Girls Preparatory School. Her 1993 "Southside" project can be viewed permanently at the Southside Grill.
